1711...A group of Jewish New Yorkers contributes money to help complete the steeple atop the original Trinity Church on Broadway.

1890...Following the closing of the original Madison Square Garden, the second Madison Square Garden – designed by famed architect Stanford White – opens at Madison Avenue and 26th Street. For a time, it houses the largest auditorium in the country.
