The city has hit the brakes on a new bike-sharing program that was set to start in July.
The Citi Bike program will not be ready for its original launch date, which is just two weeks away, according to city officials.
There is no word on a new date, but the Department of Transportation has promised to update the public on its progress.
Bike-share operator Alta responded to inquiries on Twitter saying that the program will not begin until at least August.
A $41 million sponsorship from Citigroup paid for the program, which includes 10,000 bicycles and 600 docking stations around Manhattan and Brooklyn.
When the program does start, bike rentals are expected to go for $25 a week or $10 a day.
A yearly membership is expected to cost $95.
