Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to make sure those affected by Hurricane Sandy have a place to stay during the holidays.

The governor announced Friday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has granted his request to extend the time storm victims can stay in hotels.

As of now, FEMA's Transitional Sheltering Assistance program will go on until January 12.

Displaced residents have been housed at participating hotels and motels while they look for another place to stay.

To apply for the program or find out more about the extension, call 800-621-3362 or visit disasterassistance.gov.
