Knife-Wielding Man Shot, Killed By Police During Standoff

A standoff with police in Manhattan ended Tuesday night with a man being shot dead after investigators say he lunged at officers with a knife.

Officers responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed man inside a building on Morningside Avenue near West 124th Street in Harlem.

Police say the man, identified as Mohamed Bah, 28, lunged at officers with a knife.

Officers responded by using a stun gun on the man twice and firing a rubber bullet at him.

Police say Bah continued to advance at officers, slashing one officer's vest and puncturing the first aid kit attached to another officer's vest.

Police say an officer then fired one shot, hitting him.

Bah was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a knife was recovered at the scene.
