The Port Authority has appealed a judge's decision to hand over its study that shows its toll increases may have had a negative economic impact on the city's truckers.

The study reportedly shows how last year's toll hikes are in part responsible for lost business at the New York Container Terminal on Staten Island.

A judge granted a Freedom Of Information Law (FOIL) request for the study, spearheaded by Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis.

In a statement, Malliotakis says the Port Authority's appeal has "slapped the people of Staten Island" and is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

The Port Authority claims the study is a draft and not fit for release.

In a statement, a Port Authority spokesman says, "It remains our goal to reach an agreement with New York City Transit that builds on our 20-year commitment to Howland Hook and allows NYCT to remain competitive moving forward.”
