The New York Jets roared into their season Sunday with a 48-28 win at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., in their home opener against the Buffalo Bills.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez threw three touchdown passes.

Jeremy Kerley and Antonio Cromartie also scored, to help Gang Green set a team record for most points in a season opener.

Tim Tebow was mostly quiet in his first regular-season game, but he recovered a late onside kick by Buffalo.

Jets fans had their fingers crossed after last year's disappointing season where the team failed to make the playoffs after two straight trips to the AFC Championship game.

The Jets now look to keep the momentum going when they head to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers in week two.
