Fashion Week is almost here and stores around the country will be hosting one of a kind events on Thursday for Fashion's Night Out. NY1's Jessica Abo filed the following report.Come Thursday, stores in more than 500 cities will be celebrating Fashion's Night Out. The global initiative is in its fourth year and is designed to highlight the fashion community and support local economies.
"Fashion's Night Out is the biggest shopping night of the year. It's the most fun, fabulous night to be out on the street with your girlfriends," said Judith Ripka Jewelry Vice President of Communications Jessica Stark.
Inside Judith Ripka on Madison Avenue a pre-party is in the works for the fashionista who loves to shop. The festivities will start at 4 p.m. before Fashion's Night Out rolls in at 6 p.m.
"We're going to be pampering her with mini massages, mini facials, and what better way to compliment our ice than with the Soft Serve Fruit Co.? We have fabulous, fashionable and healthy ice pops," Stark said.
Meantime, the team at Beauty and Essex downtown is turning their pawn shop into a fashion party they say you can't afford to miss.
"I've teamed up with the designer David Lerner who will be onsite making his one of a kind embellished pieces. We'll also be selling items for 20 percent off, we'll be offering a gift card to Beauty and Essex with purchases of more than $250 and also with the purchase of $250 or more we'll be giving away free photo engravings, so with any picture you bring in we can engrave it on a piece of jewelry," said Pawn Shop at Beauty Essex Curator Lauren Kaminsky.
"No one has ever has mixed pawn and fashion and amazing food and free champagne and good people. And so any New Yorker that's like on the Upper East Side or Upper West Side who is kind of tired, trust me get down here. We're going to party and have fun," said Designer David Lerner.
If you want to spring into fall with a piece of Fashion's Night Out in your wardrobe you can sport the FNO Collection and help support a good cause. Forty percent of the collection's proceeds will be donated to the New York City AIDS Fund in the New York Community Trust.
