Governor David Paterson's decision to end his election campaign on Friday has affected the race for U.S. Senate.
Potential candidate Harold Ford Jr. said Friday he will wait until the end of next week to announce whether he will challenge Kirsten Gillibrand in a Democratic primary.
Ford originally planned to make his plans known after this weekend.
A spokesperson for the former Tennessee congressman said Ford does not want to discuss his political future amid the distractions over Paterson's troubles.
