An attorney for the man accused of blackmailing David Letterman is invoking Tiger Woods' sex-scandal in defense of his client.

In court papers, Robert "Joe" Halderman's lawyer draws comparisons between Halderman's alleged demand for $2 million from Letterman to reports the golf great paid a mistress to stay quiet.

Halderman's lawyer writes, "Evidence of celebrity misdeeds has a significant fair market value."

Halderman was charged in October with trying to extort $2 million from Letterman to keep quiet about the “Late Show” host's extramarital affairs.
