David Letterman's blackmail and sex scandal is turning out to be great for ratings.
According to CBS, 5.7 million people tuned in Monday to watch Letterman's first show after revealing he had been the center of an extortion plot and had sex with staff members.
That was more than double the audience for NBC's "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."
CBS News producer Robert "Joe" Halderman is accused of threatening to expose Letterman's affairs unless he was paid $2 million.
Halderman has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted grand larceny.
