NY1 VIDEO: When the Roosevelt Island tram malfunctioned on the afternoon of September 2, 2005, dozens of people in two different tram cars hung out -- literally -- for about 90 minutes until emergency workers fixed the glitch. Thankfully, none were injured. NY1's Tanya Valle was there when the passengers got out and filed the following report.

NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Unfortunately, this wasn't the last time the tram got stuck. Just one year later, almost 70 people were trapped for at least five hours due to mechanical issues. After that incident, the tram's electrical system was refurbished over several months. In 2010, the tramway underwent a complete renovation, including brand new cars and cables.
