NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 News revisits its 20-year history, the station looks back at reporter Dean Meminger's March 19, 2007 coverage of the funeral services held in Mali following a devastating fire that ripped through a home in Highbridge, killing 10 people from two families; nine of whom were children.

NY1 FOLLOW-UP: NY1's Dean Meminger recently spoke with Soumare and his cousin who communicates on his behalf. They say Soumare's life has been difficult the past few years. He was unable to bring his sons here, and he also can't travel back and forth to see them because he has not been successful in getting legal status in the U.S., so if he left he may not be able to come back. Soumare is currently living with family in the Bronx.
