NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 continues its look back at its coverage of the shooting of Amadou Diallo in February 1999 with a focus on the political fallout. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was used to heaping praise on the NYPD for the city's dramatic drop in crime, but in the weeks after the shooting, Giuliani faced increasing questions about how the department interacted with the African-American community. NY1's Andrew Kirtzman filed this report on February 8, 1999.
