City health officials say that transmission of the H1N1 virus in the city is on the decline, but they also confirmed seven more deaths related to the H1N1 flu virus, bringing the local outbreak's fatalities to 30.

The latest seven victims of H1N1, otherwise known as swine flu, were aged between 26 to 64 years old, according to the city Department of Health.

Most of the city's 30 victims became ill in May or early June, and 23 of them had at least one of the underlying risk factors for developing severe flu complications.

DOH officials also said that local emergency departments are reporting lower numbers of patients with flu-like symptoms.

As of today, there were 1,032 confirmed cases of H1N1 in the city, including 748 hospitalizations.

Most of the city's cases of the unique flu virus have been no worse that seasonal flu, which kills about 30,000 people in the United States every year.
