Fashion Week 2012: Charlotte Ronson Is The Pilot Of A More Mature Style

From funky to fabulous, designer Charlotte Ronson shows in her latest Lincoln Center show how her style has changed over time. NY1's George Whipple filed the following report. Charlotte Ronson may have left her grunge roots behind and grown up a bit with her fall 2012 collection, as it seems mature and sophisticated.
"I think you get to know your customer and you know what works and who your girl is and you always want to evolve and build the girl," says Ronson.
The combination of transparent prints, WWII aviator helmets, gloves, leather skirts and pants clearly are designed for the contemporary woman.
"The inspiration this season is a lot more of a modern wardrobe for a real girl," says Ronson. "She's all about matching her hat to her gloves to her tights to her bag, but she does it in a very carefree way and she loves all the details and it's very matchy matchy, perfectly tucked in. But also there's a retro ski inspiration here. It's lots of little caps and hats that are matching the sweaters that adds a chic frostiness to the winter."
Ronson comes from a family used to the limelight. Her sister, Samantha Ronson, DJed the show and infamously dated Lindsay Lohan. Her brother, Marc Ronson, is a musician. Her mother, Ann Dexter Jones, is a fixture of New York society and her stepfather, Mick Jones, was the guitarist for Foreigner.
"I feel very lucky. It's nice to be able to work with people you love and also be surrounded by super-talented people that I get to learn from and be inspired by," says Charlotte Ronson.
This hip young designer began her career designing for girls in nightclubs and she very well may end up designing clothes for women in country clubs.
