"The Dark Knight Rises," the third and final movie in the Batman trilogy starring Christian Bale, recently premiered at the AMC Theater on the Upper West Side in Manhattan.

Bale inhabits the character of Batman.

"He's a real character to Bruce Wayne, he really is.... He was quite a dark character always," says Bale. "There's a rage, there's a monster inside him that I want to represent, a monster on the outside. And I found that way the only way that I really understood how to play it."

Gary Oldman, who plays Commissioner Gordon, had to overcome an obstacle to play opposite Bale.

"You get past the fact early on that you're in a scene with a man wearing a black suit, a cape. And he's quite forbidding in it, he doesn't look silly in it. They don't digitize it or anything like it. As fierce as he looks on the screen, he's in fact fierce and rough in real life," says Oldman.

One of the reasons this film works, perhaps the main reason, is its director, Christopher Nolan. All of the actors were full of praise for this extraordinary talent.

"He turns his set into a family reunion. He works with friends, his wife produces his movies, so you don't feel overwhelmed," says actor Marion Cotillard.

"Chris Nolan runs a really smart set. I mean, a lot of this story, even though it's a superhero movie will resonant with the audience. It certainly resonated with me. But it's an alternative reality, so on the set everybody was focused. Everybody was working at the absolute top of their game," says actor Anne Hathaway.

Now New Yorkers can enjoy the latest chapter of movie magic in Gotham City.
