Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday visited cast members on the set of "Gossip Girl" in Queens to mark a record-breaking year for TV production in New York City.
2011 was the busiest year ever for the industry, with 23 primetime series filmed in New York.
Officials say that adds $5 billion to the local economy.
The mayor implied that he might be available for guest appearances.
"If you do want me for something, call my agent. I don't come cheaply. I would demand more than what I get from the city, which is a dollar a year," said Bloomberg.
Officials say the state's 30 percent film tax credit helps attract productions to the city.
