“Inside City Hall,” an hour-long look at New York politics, can be seen on NY1 News weekdays at 7 and 10 p.m.

On last night’s “Inside City Hall”, Ben Smith, the editor-in-chief of the website Buzzfeed, discussed the 2012 presidential campaign.

Tonight’s guests include: Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and Jodi Kantor, the author of the new book, "The Obamas."

INSIDE THE PAPERS

The New York Times

Michael Grynbaum looks at Mayor Bloomberg’s reading habits: “…Most of the mayor’s reading material is news and nonfiction, according to aides, colleagues and friends who spoke about his habits. One former colleague, informed that the mayor had admitted to reading a novel, responded in shock: ‘That’s not the Mike Bloomberg I know.’ “

Christine Haughney reports on the resignation of Nancy Shevell from the MTA board so that she can spend more time with her new husband, Paul McCartney.

Willie Rashbaum writes: “The Manhattan district attorney’s office is investigating an accusation that Greg Kelly, a local television anchor who is a son of Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, raped a young woman in Lower Manhattan last October, law enforcement officials and Greg Kelly’s lawyer said Wednesday.”

Al Baker looks at a First Amendment battle going on in the city’s firehouses.

New York Post

Goldenberg & Margolin report: “Maybe another $8.6 million will do the trick. After spending $160 million on a failed radio system for cops to communicate in the subways, the city is hoping to overcome the failed network by buying transit cops two-way radios, officials said yesterday. The improvised solution comes six years after the MTA bet the house on an emergency-communications system that wound up becoming a garbled mess.”

Mitchell Maddux writes: “Former state Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. pleaded not guilty yesterday to the latest round of charges filed against him, and insisted he would not take a plea deal. Espada and his son, Pedro Gautier Espada, are scheduled to stand trial in March on a wide range of corruption charges related to allegations they looted the former senator’s Bronx health clinic to pay for lavish meals, Broadway tickets and a $49,000 down payment on a Bentley.

New York Daily News

Ken Lovett reports: “The state Senate GOP majority wants to merge four Queens districts currently held by Democrats into two — and one is held by the chair of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. Michael Gianaris, whose position makes him a main architect of Democratic campaign strategy in the Senate, would face a reelection dogfight against a Latino incumbent, Jose Peralta, in a heavily Latino district, sources said. The other tough-luck draw for Democrats would pit longtime Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky against freshman Tony Avella, the sources added.”

Until tomorrow.
