Organizers of the Electric Zoo music festival say they are stepping up security this weekend after two concertgoers died at last year's event.

New security measures on Randall's Island will include drug-sniffing dogs, robotic security cameras, and a public service announcement about drugs that attendees are required to watch.

The two festival goers died from an overdose of MDMA combined with hypothermia, or overheating.

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-80s this weekend, so there will be stations where people can go to stay hydrated.

Security representatives say they are not taking any chances after last year.

"Last year was a tragedy, and it deeply affected everybody from the founders of this show to everyone that works here. But we made a commitment that day that we were going to do everything possible over the course of the next 365 days to keep everybody safe who comes to this festival this year," said Stefan Friedman, a spokesperson for Electric Zoo.

A concertgoer who spoke with NY1 said he is not bothered by the extra security.

"People should know their limits and, you know, just keep hydrated, and, you know, it's something that won't ruin it for everybody else. Because these are great concerts, and everybody just wants to have fun," said a concertgoer.

Security officials say they are also in talks with the NYPD to have amnesty bins where concertgoers can dispose of drugs before they enter the festival without penalty.

Concert officials say they expect tens of thousands of electronic music fans to attend.
