Joan Rivers reportedly has been placed in a medically-induced coma after being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital Thursday morning.

Published reports say Rivers stopped breathing while undergoing a vocal cord procedure at Yorkville Endoscopy on the Upper East Side.

She is now said to be in critical but stable condition at Mount Sinai.

In a statement released Friday, Rivers' daughter Melissa said, "My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery."

Some of Rivers' fans shared their well wishes outside the hospital.

"I love Joan Rivers. I am a fan of hers and I think she's a great lady she's a great lady, she's a comedy legend," said one fan.

"I wish her a safe and speedy recovery," said another fan.

"I'm very concerned because she is a very wonderful woman, very funny and it is sad to hear but we just wish her well," noted a third fan.

Rivers is a New York native who performs regularly in the city.

She had just appeared in a show on West 43rd Street on Wednesday night.
