A major renovation of the George Washington Bridge Bus Station starts today.

The Port Authority says the 51-year-old facility will be closed for at least a year while the work is being done.

Bus service will continue during the renovations, with a temporary trailer providing waiting areas, restrooms and ticket services.

Straphangers are being told to use the stairs at 177th Street and Fort Washington Avenue to get to the subway.

The $183 million project is set to modernize the station and add new shops and passenger amenities.

New signs and lighting are also being installed. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
