A one-car crash on Long Island claimed the life of five family members from Brooklyn Saturday night.
State police say 37-year-old Myriam LeBrun was driving westbound on the Southern State Parkway shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday when she veered off the road, striking a tree.
Police say the car then burst into flames.
LeBrun and her three children, Marquis, 14, Marcel, 9, Kayla, 8, were killed in the crash along with their grandmother, 68-year-old Yolande Moise,
Investigators are determining whether speed or alcohol may have been a factor.
Outside of the family's home in Flatlands, neighbors came together Sunday night, lighting candles, and leaving teddy bears, flowers, and pictures.
"It's an emotional time, you don't expect to see someone go," said Candice McQueen, a neighbor.
Police are asking anyone who was driving in the area Saturday and saw the Honda Accord or the crash to contact them at (631) 756-3300.
