State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is pushing for federal regulators to impose restrictions on e-cigarettes.

In a letter sent to the Food and Drug Administration, Schneiderman and other attorney generals across the country say banning more than 7,000 flavors of the product would help protect minors.

Schneiderman says even without tobacco, the e-vapor products have all the same addictive qualities as regular cigarettes.

A few months ago, the FDA proposed putting the electronic alternatives under regulatory control.

Cigarette maker Altria says the agency should determine marketing restrictions based on science, and respect adult consumer choices.
