Six trustees removed from the Queens Library Board last week file a lawsuit against two elected officials, saying they were improperly fired.

A total of eight trustees were removed last week after they refused to oust the Library's Director.

Thomas Galante's $392,000 annual salary and alleged misuse of funds have recently come under fire—leading to an investigation by the city comptroller and the Federal Bureau of Ivestigation.

The six trustees fired by Queens Borough President Melinda Katz filed the complaint against her, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and the state of New York.

In a statement, a representative for the fired trustees says they filed the suit to "halt a brazen and unconstitutional, power grab by the Queens Borough President, with the aid of the State Legislature, to transform the Queens Borough Public Library from an independent, private, nonprofit corporation into an organ of City Government...”

A spokesperson for Katz tells NY1 the complaint is being reviewed. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
