Workers at a city restaurant chain are being awarded nearly a million dollars in unpaid wages following a Labor Department investigation.
It revealed that seven different Manna's Restaurant locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn were found be paying employees a flat rate, even when working overtime hours.
The 85 affected workers include dishwashers, cashiers, and cooks.
Customers say they're glad to see justice for the employees.
"I want to make this clear. African-American establishments in this community suffer a lot. We need to support the people. You know what I mean?" said one New Yorker.
The restaurant chain was fined over $160,000 dollars for similar violations in 2006.
