Two days after Congressman Charles Rangel claimed victory in the primary, his main opponent is finally conceding.
Adriano Espaillat's campaign says the state senator called Rangel Thursday to offer his congratulations.
With fewer than 2,000 votes separating the two, Espaillat had said he wanted to wait until all the absentee ballots were counted. But on Thursday Espaillat made the call and released a statement saying he will run for re-election in the state Senate.
With no opposition for the November Election, Rangel is expected to serve a 23rd term in Congress, although he says this will be his last.
