Congressman Charles Rangel has picked up a major endorsement ahead of Tuesday's big primary election.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that he's backing the longtime Congressman for re-election.
Cuomo says Rangel's experience, commitment to improving the lives of his constituents, and history of standing up to the Tea Party make him the preferred candidate.
Rangel says the endorsement shows his campaign has the momentum it needs going into the primary.
The Daily News also endorsed Rangel today, saying despite his censure by the House in 2010 for ethics violations, voters clearly hold his long career in higher regard.
The paper says Rangel's chief rival, State Senator Adriano Espaillat, has a limited chance of succeeding in Congress.
Meanwhile, a video leaked Sunday of Rangel littering at a rally in Washington Heights is being shown on the New York Post's website.
The Post says that neither Espaillat or the other two candidates in the race would take credit for the video.
Rangel's spokesman tells the paper he believes the video was released by Espaillat.
