Police have arrested a man on drug chargers after firefighters responding to an apartment fire in Brooklyn over the weekend discovered marijuana plants and growing equipment.

Firefighters say they responded to a basement fire at 577 Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights around 2 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, they say they found what police described as a drug lab.

Officials say there were about 50 marijuana plants.

According to officials, the fire was sparked by one of the lamps used to grow the marijuana.

Police say 45-year-old Antonio Dow has been arrested on several drug-related charges.
