A 6-year-old boy suffered a broken leg after being hit by a Department of Parks and Recreation vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the boy was riding a scooter in Morningside Park when he fell.

They said the Department of Parks and Recreation van then rolled over his leg.

NY1 talked to a woman who says she was nearby when the accident happened.

"I heard a boom. Everybody that was here watching, playing the game, we all ran over there," said a woman who said she was nearby when the incident happened. "When we got there, the father was down on his knees with the little boy. The scooter was already knocked down. The lady had to park her van over there, so then, once she got out the van, she noticed she hit the little boy. She was like, 'I didn't see him, I didn't see him.'"

The boy was transported to Harlem Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating.
