More than 200 students were evacuated Tuesday after a fire broke out near a Brooklyn school.

Police say the flames started outside the United Talmudical Academy in Williamsburg just before 10:45 a.m.

Crews were able to get the fire under control about 45 minutes later.

Witnesses say they saw smoke coming out of a nearby manhole.

"From this manhole was coming out black smoke. I called 911 and then they came in and everybody from the school run out and now they're taking them away," said one witness.

Con Ed turned off power in the area and is working on resolving the issue.
