A Brooklyn man is now facing charges in connection with an accident that left another man in critical condition.

Police say Robert Daniel hit the victim shortly after midnight near the corner of Atlantic and Bedford Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant.

Daniel is now facing charges of vehicular assault and driving while ability impaired—police say he had a blood alcohol content of .08.

People in the area say speed is a big problem on that street.

"I'm aware that the speed limit should be around 25-30 miles an hour; People are barreling down here at 50 miles an hour, 60 miles an hour sometimes," said one person in the area.

Last month, the speed limit on an eight-mile stretch of Atlantic Avenue was cut from 30 to 25 mph as part of Mayor Bill de Blasio's Vision Zero initiative to reduce pedestrian deaths.

This accident occurred within that zone.
