Police have a Brooklyn man in custody after a stabbing left his wife dead and his son injured early Tuesday morning.
According to police, Hasan Rugova is charged with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Residents say the man was the superintendent of a building located at 101 Marine Avenue in Bay Ridge.
Police say they found the 52-year-old with a knife wound to his stomach.
The 14-year-old boy was slashed on the arm, and 46-year-old Gyltene Rugova was declared dead on scene with a neck wound.
Neighbors said the 46-year-old victim was set to open up a pizza shop nearby on Fourth Avenue, which they said she was going to operate with one of her four children.
Building residents said they were shocked and upset by the loss of a friend.
"I'm just very surprised because I saw him yesterday and I actually said, 'How are you?' and he said, 'Alright,'" said one tenant.
"So nice to each other," said another. "I've never seen them argue or nothing. Never. I've never heard them argue or nothing."
"She helped me for everything. I'm going to miss her a lot. I don't know what to say. Very nice woman. She help everybody here. Everybody love her," said a third.
Police say the boy intervened, but it is unclear whether he intervened when the mother was being attacked or when the father tried to commit suicide.
Sources say there was also an 11-year-old girl in the apartment at the time who was unharmed.
Police say the 52-year-old is in stable condition.
