While the Beatles said "The best things in life are free," a piece of Beatlemania from The Ed Sullivan Show is definitely not.

A section of the set signed by the band during their first appearance on stage at the show failed to hit the minimum bid at Heritage Auctions in Manhattan.

Now, the auction house will try to privately broker an $800,000 deal for the 4-foot-by-2-foot piece of plastic wall.

A stagehand asked the band members to autograph the wall when they made their historic 1964 appearance on the show.
