The probe into the lane closures at the George Washington Bridge last fall is widening as more subpoenas are filed, this time in Manhattan.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara has subpoenaed the Port Authority for records related to potential conflicts of interest involving chairman David Samson.

There have been multiple reports that clients from Samson's law firm received contracts from the agency while he was in charge.

Samson is already under investigation by the New Jersey state Legislature and by New Jersey federal prosecutors.

In a morning radio interview, Governor Andrew Cuomo, who has attempted to steer clear of the scandal, said that the decision about whether Samson should resign is not up to him.

"The chairman of the Port Authority is an appointee of the governor of New Jersey, and I will leave it to the governor of New Jersey to make that decision," Cuomo said. "I think he is the appropriate person to make that decision, and I'll leave it with him."

Samson's attorney has not yet responded to our request for comment.

The Port Authority and the U.S. Attorney's office have declined comment.
