The New School on Thursday showed off its new campus center.
The multi-purpose facility came in at 16 stories high and 375,000 square feet.
It has nine floors of dormitories, as well as seven floors of academic space.
It also features a huge two-level library and a full auditorium with a convertible stage.
"It's a striking architectural statement, an anchor of our neighborhood, an innovated space for public programming and learning," said Joe Gromek, chair of the board of trustees for The New School.
"We have no offices here. It's all for the students and all for the public. So we hope that students will interact in each of the large landings you see at the top of the stairways. It'll be sort of a beehive of activity for all of our programs," said David van Zandt, president of The New School.
Undergraduate students put on a musical performance and a light show to usher in the new building.
This marks the first time that students from all seven New School divisions are sharing one space.
