Police are investigating the city's first two homicides of the year, which happened hours apart early on Wednesday.

A 17-year-old boy was found shot in the chest around 3 a.m. on Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the first homicide of the year happened about two hours earlier at around 1 a.m. in Queens.

Officers answered a call of a man stabbed inside a house in Jamaica.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest several times.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last year, the city's first homicide wasn't recorded until January 3. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
