Nautical enthusiasts can kick off the new year by checking out hundreds of boats at the Javits Center.

The 109th Annual New York Boat Show will be up from New Year's Day until January 5.

More than 35,000 people are expected to visit.

The star of the show is a 51-foot boat worth a million and a half dollars.

"New York is a big boating market. It's very important to our industry and our dealers here. Boating in New York State is a 5.8 billion dollar industry so it's very significant," said Boat Show Manager Jon Pritko.

It costs $15 for adults to attend, but once you're in, you can take advantage of free boating and boat maintenance workshops and watch an expert catch a 200-pound alligator.

"I think people forget that we're on an island here. Fishing is great, people go out to Long Island Sound, boating on the Hudson is wonderful too. So it's a lifestyle that we try to promote," Pritko said.

The show is the world's longest-running boat show at 109 years.

Children 15 and under can navigate the show for free.
