The Prospect Park Zoo is celebrating the recent breeding and hatching of five baby Chinese Big Headed Turtles.

The species is on the critically endangered list and is the first time that they have been successfully reproduced at an accredited zoo or aquarium.

The babies are being kept out of the public eye.

To see what a Chinese Big Head Turtle looks like, the Prospect Park Zoo says it has an adult female on display in its Animals in Our Lives building.

For more information on the turtles, visit the Wildlife Conservation Society's website at wcs.org.
