A Staten Island police officer is among three men arrested in an alleged extortion ring.
According to a three-count indictment unsealed Tuesday, 34-year-old police officer Besnick Llakatura and two others coerced a restaurant owner in Queens into paying for so-called protective services.
Officials say they repeatedly threatened and intimidated the owner to comply, getting violent at times.
The defendants allegedly collected $24,000 from the owner over the course of five months.
One of the other defendants is Redinal Dervishaj.
Back in March of 2012, the reputed Albanian gangster was arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a Staten Island groom-to-be.
A grand jury later cleared him of second-degree murder charges.
