To kick off the 2013 New York City Unicycle Festival, dozens of riders made the 13-mile trek from City Hall Park, across the Brooklyn Bridge and all the way to Coney Island's Wonder Wheel Friday.
The show moves to Governors Island for the rest of the weekend, where riders will hold special demonstrations, perform stunts and even give riding lessons.
"It's just a lot of fun, and everyone that rides them seems to be really friendly," said John Molesworth, a unicyclist. "We have a great time when we come down, and it's a great excuse to visit New York."
"Unicycling is one of those amazing things that brings people together from all different socioeconomic, racial," said Keith Nelson, the founder of the New York City Unicycle Festival. "It's just such a beautiful mix of people who, the one thing we share is that we put in the time to ride a one-wheeled vehicle."
