NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Stephanie Simon filed the following report.

"Romeo N Juliet"
The Classical Theatre of Harlem offers a modern adaptation of star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet in this new production at the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey park. Admission is free. It runs through the end of the month.

Tom Wopat at Iridium
Whether you know him from Broadway or remember his from the classic hit 70's tv show The Dukes of Hazzard, fans of Tom Wopat are sure to fill The Iridium jazz club to hear him sing the songs of the Rat Pack this Friday and Saturday night. Tickets start at just 35 dollars.

Ray Lugo & The Boogaloo Destroyers at Nublu
As part of Fania Record's 50th anniversary check out it's summer long DJ series at Nublu in the East Village. This Friday night DJ Turmix will celebrate Latin Boogaloo with a live performance by Ray Lugo & The Boogaloo Destroyers. Admission is $10. It's located at 62 Avenue C between 4th & 5th Streets.

Saturday afternoon, see "On My Own" a new documentary film about single motherhood in the black community. This is the first feature length film by Rachel Miller-Bradshaw. It's screening at the New Covenant Baptist Church of Christ in Queens Village, Saturday at 2 p.m. There's a $5 suggested donation.

Check out the pop/soul sounds of Fredericks Brown on your lunch break Thursday at MetroTech Plaza, starting at 12 p.m., as part of BAM's summer-long R&B festival. Admission is free, and a look ahead on the calendar.

Fans and writers of scary stories have plenty of reasons to have goosebumps this weekend with the culmination of Thrillerfest at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan. Admission to this international meeting of thriller writers starts around $230 for a two day pass.
