Muni-meters are so common nowadays that some meter attendants forget there are still old-fashioned meters, but one Queens man found that out the hard way. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following NY1 For You report.

Feeding the meter was an exercise in futility for Queens resident Alfredo Louk, who received a ticket for not displaying a Muni-Meter receipt in his window while parking in Flushing, even though he was parked at an old-fashioned meter.

It is something the meter parking officer who wrote the ticket actually acknowledged.

"He said, 'Well sorry. You could go and appeal but I cannot destroy the ticket because the ticket has been issued already,'" says Louk.

Frustrated, Louk sent pictures and paperwork to fight the ticket but surprisingly his claim was denied for lack of evidence. He appealed the case but the city upheld the ticket.

"I know the city needs money but they need to be fair," he says.

Louk says he saw tickets on other cars parked there and wonders how much money the city is raking in on erroneous tickets.

"I send the paperwork to appeal but I know a lot of people say, 'Well it's only $35.' They pay it. My whole point is not the $35, my whole point is it's unfair," he says.

After Louk called NY1, the station called the Department of Finance. A spokesman told NY1 the agency is looking into the situation.

NY1 will continue to follow this story.
