One dangerous Brooklyn intersection makes pedestrians nervous to cross the street. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following NY1 For You report.

There are "No Left Turn" signs at the intersection coming off the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway East onto Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn, but drivers still make illegal left turns.

Pedestrians say crossing the street there can seem like a video game.

"It's like 'Frogger' for people," says resident Brian Aronson. "I'm afraid to die."

Residents say countless cars blatantly ignore the signs and whip left, creating a hazardous situation for pedestrians and bikers.

"People are always making illegal left turns. If you’re trying to traverse the intersection, there’s just one more direction of traffic that’s unpredictable," says Aronson. "And I’ve seen bikers and pedestrians alike almost get slammed."

With three signs at the intersection notifying motorists that there are no left turns except for buses, the Department of Transportation told NY1 that the appropriate signage is in place.

The station then called the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information for the New York City Police Department. The DCPI office said in a statement, "The precinct is aware of the condition and it is being addressed. It will be assessed daily for further evaluation."

It is a step pedestrians hope will make it a little safer to cross the street.

NY1 will continue to follow this story.
