Dressed up and down on their luck, a group of job seekers say they came to Urban Dynamics for a security job interview, but the company only made their pockets lighter. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following NY1 For You report.

A company called Urban Dynamics ran ads for security guard positions on Craigslist that read, "Must fill positions for front desk attendants. No experience necessary." Yet what sounded like an easy way to make money only led to painful losses for unemployed job seeker Cruz Colon.

"I lost over $800 and it hurt me because I have no money," says Colon.

Last week, NY1 For You first reported on Urban Dynamics. College student Graham Davis answered what he thought was a job listing on Craigslist and ended up paying $250 to Urban Dynamics for security training.

Davis says when the interviewer asked him for several hundred additional dollars for more training, he demanded his money back, but says the company would neither return his money nor help him find a job.

After the story first aired, it turned out Davis was not alone. NY1 received numerous calls from other unemployed applicants who claim Urban Dynamics also took their money and never got them a job.

"I paid $5,800 for something that should have only cost me about $500," said unemployed job seeker Gregory Pulice.

Pulice says he was told he need fire guard, anti-terrorism and homeland security training to become a basic security guard, which in reality he did not need. Even after Pulice paid almost $6,000, he says Urban Dynamics never found him a job.

NY1 contacted the Better Business Bureau, which gives Urban Dynamics an "F" rating.

"A number of the people who have gone through the program said that they were sent to interviews at businesses in New York City, saying 'You should go talk to these people about a job,'" says Walter Brewster of the BBB. "When they show up for the interview, the people at the company say, 'Why are you here? We’ve never heard of you, we don’t know who this person is who’s being sent here, and we don’t have any jobs.'"

Stories told to NY1 parallel what BBB heard.

"They kept sending me to sites for interviews, and each time I got to the site, they were not expecting me. They never heard of Urban Dynamics, so basically I was just sent away," says Pulice.

NY1 spoke with a representative from Urban Dynamics, who said the company serves a recruiter and does not guarantee job placement, only job assistance.

The station then asked the representative to address claims that the company's placement assistance is worthless, and the representative said he is not aware of them.

Last week, when NY1 pointed out that the company's ads were misleading, the representative agreed and said he would change them. To date, the ads have not changed.

Urban Dynamics is approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. NY1 contacted that agency and a spokeswoman told the station that Urban Dynamics was suspended on one occasion and also received an unsatisfactory inspection on another.

The spokeswoman went on to say that the agency is closely monitoring Urban Dynamics and will inspect the school within the next month.

NY1 will continue to follow this story.
