Ruschell Boone joined NY1 as the newschannel’s Queens Reporter in 2002.

Among the stories she's covered are the search to find a donor for a six-year-old girl seeking a bone marrow transplant, the closing of two hospitals in Elmhurst, the acquittal of three policemen in the Sean Bell trial, and the closing of Shea Stadium.

She is also the newschannel's Saturday morning feature reporter, and a regular participant in the "Principal for a Day" program – most recently at P.S. 140 in Jamaica.

Boone started her career in television as a college intern for CNBC Business News. After her graduation CBNC hired her as a news assistant and she produced, field produced, and wrote for several shows. She went on to CNNfn where she became an associate producer, and after eight months was promoted to assignment editor.

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, she emigrated to New York City as a child, and attended Richard R. Green Junior High School and Harry S. Truman in the Bronx.

She earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from Baruch College in Manhattan, and was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1997.
